One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.
The first book was amazing!! Cant wait till the second one comes out. I know some dont like the series as much because they think it relates to the hungergames a lot. They are soooo wrong! This book is totally different then the hungergames. First off, tris is not poor and she knows what kind of guy she wants. She is also not stuck in the hunger games.
I loved Divergent and was so excited to read this one. It was good-not great. There were some editing issues, I really feel like someone dropped the ball on the editing. There were parts that seemed rushed and confusing-more description should have been added to make it clear to the reader what was happening. Also, there was one instance ehen Tobias says he and Zeke were doing something but Zeke was with the traitor dauntless at the time. I can only assume he meant Uriah, Zeke's brother. That should have been caught during editing. Another time, Tris sets something down and then two paragraphs later it says she sets it down again. I also felt like I wasn't getting a sense of the character's personalities in this book. In the first they were so well-developed, so I was surprised that at the beginning of this one not much of their personalities was present. It really felt like I was reading about two different people until about halfway through. I also found myself annoyed at how much Tris and Tobias were fighting because there was no real sense of what was going on. I think the first one had equal amounts of character developement and action but this one focused mainly on action which left it lacking.Overall, it was good and i will read the third, but I was still disappointed.
I did it!!! I read the book that I was anticipating the most! And boy did it live up to its standards and more!! I knew this book was going to be so much better then the first, but I did not know that it was going to be that much better!
Last weekend while I was at RT Teen Day in Chicago, I saw some of my great blogging friends. It was so nice to finally catch up with them. But then I spotted it a mile away!!! My friend DJ had INSURGENT!!! I couldn't believe it... Then after some talking, :), he let me borrow it in exchange of me getting it signed when I meet Veronica in May! Boy was I so happy! I couldn't put it down! I couldn't believe that I was going to be able to read the ONE book that I could not wait to read. And was it worth it!!!
Tris is back and ready for action! But a lot as happened since the first time we met her. Her are Four are still together and waiting to see where their life is going to take them. But little do they know, that what lies is going to bring them closer then ever!!! Now I don't want to give too much away but I do want to tell you this...THIS BOOK IS SO WORTH IT! And I just want you to know that this book is defiantly so far book of the year!!! I know it!
Please, when this book comes out go and buy it! You will not be disappointed. This book has everything a book in this genre needs. It as some of the greatest actions scenes so far, and just the right amount of romance in it. Oh and please if you have read this book, go to page 301 and read it...this is the turning point for the book. This part made a good book, one hell of a book.
The best part of Insurgent is that is packed with action scenes that move the story along while keeping the audience engaged. However, there are the times in between that drag and feel almost repetitive in the description of the emotional conflicts Tris experiences. One of the few reasons I continued with this story is because it spikes my curiosity in almost an Erudite nature. The last chapter only increases that curiosity, so although it might not be an exceptional read (see James Dashner's The Maze Runner) it is entertaining one.
"Promising author Roth tells the riveting and complex story of a teenage girl forced to choose, at age 16, between her routinized, selfless family and the adventurous, unrestrained future she longs for. A memorable, unpredictable journey from which it is nearly impossible to turn away."
"This gritty, paranoid world is built with careful details and intriguing scope. Fans snared by the ratcheting suspense will be unable to resist speculating on their own factional allegiance. Guaranteed to fly off the shelves."
"With brisk pacing and lavish flights of imagination . . . Divergent clearly has thrills, but it also movingly explores a more common adolescent anxiety-the painful realization that coming into one's own sometimes means leaving family behind, both ideologically and physically."
